  • The Supreme Court has once again weighed in on the constitutional right to an abortion, this time in a case from Louisiana that threatened to open the door for anti-choice politicians across the country to pass deceptive laws designed solely to shut down clinics. In the aftermath of this pivotal Supreme Court decision regarding our right to choose, join Senator Patty Murray and leading advocates from the Center for Reproductive Rights, Feminist Women’s Health Center, Women with a Vision New Orleans, Demand Justice, and CPD Action for a discussion about what this case means for abortion care and how we can continue to fight for reproductive freedom.
  • Rep. Katie Porter, Cristian Farias, and leading advocates and experts from Indivisible, Public Justice, Americans for Financial Reform, Roosevelt Institute, CPD Action, and Demand Justice discuss how the consumer protection agency Sen. Warren created to hold big corporations accountable is under attack -- all because of the Supreme Court.
  • We were joined by Rep. Ayanna Pressley and leading advocates and experts from the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Emory Law, Columbia University, Constitutional Accountability Center, Center for Popular Democracy, and Demand Justice for a conversation about Qualified Immunity -- and what we can do as we work to end this Supreme Court-created doctrine.
  • On May 6th, the Supreme Court considered whether employers can deny Americans access to affordable birth control and reproductive freedom. That evening, we heard from Rep. Judy Chu, the National Women’s Law Center, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, Rewire, Center for Popular Democracy, and Demand Justice in an interactive briefing about the Supreme Court hearing and its implication for millions of Americans.
  • The Supreme Court is all that’s standing between investigators and Trump’s tax returns and financial records. These documents could shed new light on whether Trump cheated on his taxes, who he’s doing business with around the globe, what foreign powers he has ties to, and whether he’s lied about his business. To try to keep these documents secret, Trump’s lawyers are arguing he’s above the law -- and the Republican justices on the Supreme Court have been bending over backwards to let Trump get away with abuse of power. The night before the Supreme Court finally heard these cases, leading experts and advocates from Common Cause, the Constitutional Accountability Center, People for the American Way, The Nation, Center for Popular Democracy, and Demand Justice came together for a briefing about what’s at stake. The Republican Supreme Court justices need to know we’re watching them -- and that we’ll fight back against any effort to declare Trump above the law.
  • Soon, the Supreme Court will decide whether to take away federal protection from millions of LGBTQ+ Americans and allow them to be fired from their jobs because of whom they love or how they identify. Over half of all LGBTQ+ Americans live in states where state law doesn’t protect them against workplace discrimination, so their only safeguard is the federal Civil Rights Act. Now, the Supreme Court could strip them of that essential protection. As we await the Supreme Court’s decision, we were joined by the Rep. Jerrold Nadler, National Center for Transgender Equality, Lambda Legal, National Women’s Law Center, ACLU of Michigan, CPD Action, and Demand Justice for a conversation, moderated by Slate’s Mark Joseph Stern, about what’s at stake for LGBTQ+ Americans and how we can act to advance equality.
  • In the midst of a pandemic, Republican Supreme Court justices are threatening Dreamers with deportation. Trump’s hijacked Supreme Court is considering ending DACA — which would put nearly 700,000 people, including thousands of health care workers, at risk of deportation and displacement. As we await the Supreme Court’s decision, we were joined by Rep. Pamila Jayapal, Rep. Joaquin Castro, Marisol Orihuela, and leading experts and advocates from the Center for Popular Democracy, Make the Road New York, United We Dream, CASA, and Demand Justice for a briefing about what’s at stake and how we can show our support for Dreamers.

The Supreme Court has become too political. It's time to fight back >>
